Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of The Angling Edge mobile application and related services ("the App", "Service"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
The Angling Edge is a fishing logbook that lets you record catches, manage venues, receive personalised advice through Edgewise, export your data, and optionally share information with people or clubs you trust.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the App. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with local laws.
3. Your account
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the catches, photos, notes and other content you upload ("Your Content"). By using the App, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service — including powering Edgewise for your account, generating exports, and sharing with people you authorise.
You represent that you have the right to upload Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights or violate applicable law.
5. Sharing
Sharing is optional and controlled by you. When you share catches or venues, you acknowledge that recipients you select may view that information according to your sharing settings. You can change or revoke sharing at any time from the App.
We are not responsible for how others use information you choose to share with them.
6. Edgewise
Edgewise provides fishing advice based on your logged data and available conditions. Advice is for informational purposes only. Fishing involves risk; conditions change; and results are never guaranteed. Always follow local rules, venue regulations, and your own judgement.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
- Attempt to access other users' data without authorisation.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service's operation.
- Upload malware, spam, or content that is abusive, defamatory, or infringes intellectual property.
- Resell or commercially exploit the Service without our written consent.
8. Subscriptions and payments
Some features may require payment. Pricing, billing cycles, and renewal terms are shown in the App Store or Google Play listing at the time of purchase. Subscriptions are managed through the store you purchased from and are subject to that store's terms.
9. Data exports
You may request an export of your data from the App. Export links are time-limited (7 days) and subject to fair-use limits (one request per day). We are not liable for data loss if you do not download an export before the link expires.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable. Most features require an internet connection.
11. Intellectual property
The App, its design, branding, software, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or code except as needed to use the App.
12. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Edgewise advice will improve your catch rate or that data will always be error-free.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or fishing opportunities arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £50 if you use a free tier.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the App, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.
15. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may terminate or suspend access if you breach these Terms. On termination, your right to use the App ends. You may export your data before closing your account. To request account deletion, contact support.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be notified in the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
